Sepehr Lajevardi

Born in Iran in 1984, Sepehr Lajevardi began mastering the Setar at age 10, followed by the Tar a year later. Under the mentorship of Master Houshang Zarif for 15 years and Maestro Mohammad-Reza Lotfi for two, he honed his artistry to the highest level.

Beyond performance, Lajevardi deepened his craft through studies in music theory and composition with renowned experts including Parviz Mansouri and Alireza Mashayekhi.

He has graced the major concert halls of Iran with over 100 performances. Highlights include a decade-long collaboration with the Tehran New Orchestra led by Alireza Mashayekhi, and work with the Mezrabi Orchestra (Hossein Dehlavi), Melal Orchestra (Peyman Soltani), and ensembles “Khorshid” and “Mah” (Majid Derakhshani).

In 2007, he earned first prize at Iran’s prestigious Biennale Festival for Modern Music. Leading the ensemble “Kahbod,” he won first prize at the 2014 Traditional Music Festival in Azerbaijan. His 2015 solo album Haft Darya (Seven Seas) showcases his improvisational skill.

Lajevardi’s expressive Tar playing features on over twenty albums, including Dr. Ali Radman’s Kavir, multiple projects with Majid Derakhshani, and Peyman Soltani’s Irane Khanom with Maestro Shahram Nazeri. He also composes and performs film music.

A graduate in instrumental performance from the University of Music, Lajevardi relocated to Germany in 2017. In 2018, he toured Europe with the ensemble “Shiraz” and Kian Soltani, culminating in an appearance at the Amsterdam Cello Biennale Festival.
